The beach stretches from the airport runways on the south end to Legian on the north. It's a great beach to walk and Kuta's sunsets are a favorite among the visitors.

Despite the din and the ever present hawkers the Kuta area has great nightlife, excellent shopping and a huge choice of restaurants/ entertainment. Kuta beach on a sunny day is covered by tourists sunbathing, and surfing. This is a great surfing beach with everything from small waves for beginners to some serious surf when the weather kicks up a bit. For those who wants to surf, many surf boards for rent along the beach. Kuta is not only famous among the western tourists, but also many domestic tourists enjoy Kuta beach.

A serious word of caution: Be very careful swimming here -- look for the flags marking safe areas. There is a strong undertow in many areas and strong, long rips. A number of people drown here every season. This is not a beach to let children swim unattended![endtext]
